How You Can Help
Ways to Get Involved
Whether you have a few hours a month or a whole home to share, there’s a role for you with Underdog Rescue of Alabama.
Foster a Dog
Open your home to a dog in transition. Foster families provide a safe, loving environment while dogs wait for their forever homes. We cover all vet costs and supplies — you bring the love. Even short-term fostering saves lives!
Transport Volunteer
Help us move dogs from shelters or vet appointments to foster homes and adoption events. Transporting is flexible — you sign up for trips that fit your schedule. A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle is all you need.
Photography & Social Media
Help our dogs shine online! If you have a camera, phone photography skills, or a knack for social media, we’d love your help creating content that connects our dogs with their future families.
Events & Fundraising
Help us plan and run adoption events, fundraisers, and community outreach. From setting up tables to promoting events online, every hand makes a huge difference.
Administrative Support
We need help behind the scenes too — reviewing applications, answering emails, updating our dog listings, and keeping things organized. If you’re organized and love dogs, this one’s for you.
Grant Writing & Fundraising
Help us secure funding for more rescues. If you have experience in grant writing, corporate outreach, or nonprofit fundraising, your skills could transform our capacity to save dogs.
Fostering Saves Lives
Could You Foster?
Fostering is one of the most powerful things you can do for our rescue. Every dog in a foster home frees up space for us to save another life — and every foster dog has a better chance at adoption when they’re in a home setting instead of a kennel.
We provide everything: food, vet care, supplies, training support, and a community of people who understand exactly what you’re going through.
Foster FAQ
Do I need experience?
No! We provide full support and training. First-time fosters are always welcome.
What if I have other pets?
Many of our fosters have other pets. We work to match dogs carefully to your home.
How long do I foster?
It varies — some dogs find homes in weeks, others take longer. We work with your schedule.
What do I need to provide?
Just love and a safe space. We cover all vet bills, food, and supplies.
